CLUB OF THE MONTH - TED & AMAZING FEET RC

January’s Club of the Month features one little bear and a one incredible community of runners on a special mission. Let’s hear from Alex (& Ted!) from the Amazing Feet Running Club…

“I think everyone who attended TR24 2022 knows of Ted now, but in case they don’t, Ted was introduced to Amazing Feet Running Club as a memento to remind us why we were taking part. The team were there to raise money for Birmingham Children’s Hospital, as at the time of the event, they were providing lifesaving care for my daughter, Evie. Since her birth in April, she spent 6 months in hospital and has since returned for more emergency surgery. The care she has received, and continues to receive is faultless, and a level that every parent would be happy to see their child receive. After Thunder Run, Amazing Feet Running Club realised how important Ted's mission could be and several club members got involved to help carry Ted all over the country taking part in events to raise both money and awareness for Birmingham Children’s Hospital. To date, over £11,000 has been raised. Everywhere he goes know, people recognise him from certain races and grab him for photographs and ask his story. When they hear it, they ask for the just giving link.

Some of the events he has taken part in include;

  • July 2022 - TR24 With Alex, Jamie, Phill, Dave & Anthony

  • August 2022 - Race The Train with Anthony

  • September 2022 - Worcester Half Marathon with Louise

  • September 2022 - Great North Run with Emma

  • September 2022 - Welsh 3000's with Phil, Phill, & Dave

  • October 2022 - London Virtual Marathon with Alex

  • October 2022 - Almost 8 With Pauline

  • October 2022 - Redditch 10k with Alex

  • November 2022 - Malvern Hills 10miles with Paul

  • November 2022 - Alton Towers with Alex, Nicki & Paul

In terms of Evie, my daughter, she has gone from strength to strength. After exactly 6 months in hospital, she came home. She spent about 8 weeks at home then unfortunately needed to be rushed back in for more surgery after a complication from a viral bug. Hopefully this will be a short-lived trip and we can all be back home together again soon.

While we have been in hospital, the running club have really stepped up... check out these news articles -
